The Kasturi and Mehfuza Charitable trust has been established in the name of two outstanding women, Mrs. Kasturi Mitra and the late Mrs. Mehfuza Qamruddin. Both come from diverse back grounds but have lived and in the case of Mrs. Kasturi Mitra is living an exemplary life of generosity. This trust is a tribute to their spirit and in a humble way to carry forward their dream of helping the oppressed and the poor especially women.
Age old traditions, social customs and financial constraints have long burdened young children in traditional societies. The main casualty being education and that too the girl child is more often than not neglected.
Our vision is to change this by offering direct and indirect help to parents who are economically weak so as to enable them to send their children to school and get them educated. As we go along and our charitable trust grows we envision opening schools where we can give education free or at a very subsidised cost.
Our goal is to help as many children as possible to grow with confidence and be well equipped to make their place in this world and to break from the cycle of poverty.
